Bitcoin back below 60k today after setting new weekend record
Bitcoin was temporarily shaken by the news on Friday, that the US CFTC is to investigate the biggest crypto exchange, Binance holdings. That news sent the price of all coins immediately lower and helped to push Bitcoin to as low as 55,065. Prior to that news it has traded as 58,138. However, as the US afternoon progressed, Bitcoin shrugged off the news and lifted back above 57k. That move was the catalyst for another record weekend for Bitcoin. The price charged above the previous all time high at 58,350, rising to as high as 61,742 very late on Saturday evening. It has dropped back since and was gradually slipping lower for most of yesterday. That drop back has been extended today, but so far it has held the gains above that previous 58,350 top. The low so far has been set at 58,741. However, there is still a risk of a relapse below 58,350 as there might be stops in place around that level now. It will be interesting to see if the lead coin can maintain its weekend momentum today, as quite often the opposite applies in this latest price pattern. Bitcoin is currently trading at 58,960
