Bitcoin charges higher on Tesla news

08 Feb, 2021

The news revealed a short while ago from the US tech automotive giant, Tesla motors has sent Bitcoin charging higher again. Prior to this news it was noted here in an update; that Bitcoin was already on the rise again as it lifted to session highs above 39,500. Well, following this breaking news from Tesla, that the company now owns some $1.5 billion worth of Bitcoin, the market has gone off on another feeding frenzy. Bitcoin lifted to as high as $43,725 on this news. Tesla has also stated that they will start accepting Bitcoin as a means of payment for their vehicles. No wonder that the boss highlighted Bitcoin on his twitter page the other week. It was that news that sent the coin spiralling higher at the end of January. In truth though this is clearly a manipulative situation. Any company seeking to talk up the value of a payment medium because it owns such is clearly open to such a charge. Of course if Bitcoin were to truly explode, it would make payment for any vehicle prohibitively expensive for anyone that does not already own Bitcoin. At the same time, it stands to make Tesla just as much, or even more via way of a capital gain that perhaps it would from the sale of the underlying product. So, did the whole world just go a little madder than it is already? Yes, it sure seems that way. Bitcoin is currently now trading at fresh session highs above 44,400
